Sanger High Culinary Students Showcase Their Skills on Great Day Kitchen

Sanger High Culinary Students Showcase Their Skills on Great Day Kitchen cover

Students from Sanger High School’s Culinary Arts program recently had the opportunity to bring their skills beyond the classroom and into the spotlight during a segment on Great Day Kitchen. Guided by instructor Desiree Domenici, the students demonstrated two flavorful dishes: Peruvian chicken tacos and Parmesan bruschetta.

The appearance highlighted the hands-on learning that programs like NASA HUNCH emphasize—giving students the opportunity to apply their skills in real-world environments. Preparing dishes live on air required not only culinary technique, but also teamwork, communication, and confidence.

During the segment, the students walked viewers through the preparation of their dishes, showcasing bold flavors and simple techniques that bring the recipes together. The Peruvian chicken tacos featured vibrant spices and fresh ingredients, while the Parmesan bruschetta offered a classic, crowd-pleasing appetizer built on quality ingredients and careful preparation.

Experiences like this help students translate classroom learning into practical skills. Whether working in a kitchen, a workshop, or a laboratory, the HUNCH philosophy remains the same: learning by doing. By stepping into professional settings and sharing their work with the community, students gain confidence and valuable experience that prepares them for future careers.

If watching the segment leaves you hungry (which it very likely will), the students were kind enough to share the recipes so you can try them yourself. Watch the full FOX26 / KMPH segment and find the recipies here:
